Chambray & Stripes

Belted chambray shirt with pencil skirt

The weekend just goes by too quickly. Friday night my parents came in to town and we FINALLY took them to Hopdoddy, our favorite restaurant here in Austin. If you have never been, you should definitely check it out, don’t let that long line deter you!! It is totally worth the wait! If you go early enough, or for an early lunch on the weekend the line isn’t that bad…but like I said, totally worth the wait. Saturday morning we went to the Barton Creek farmer’s market. We got some really great produce and some fresh made salsa which is spectacular I might add. We also got some fruit glaze that I hope to put on salmon later this week (recipe to come!)

I got a new chambray shirt last week and I just couldn’t wait to wear it even though it’s 100 degrees outside. I wanted one that was a little bit nicer looking than my old one. I still love that one, but its a bit more casual than I would like to wear with some of my skirts and dressier outfits. This one is super comfy and looks awesome with a skinny belt! I plan to wear this outfit well into the fall, and when/if it gets chilly this winter I can add  some pretty colorful tights to it.

I thought this wall was pretty awesome! I saw it when we were riding around the city one time a few weeks ago. I love driving through all of the neighborhoods around Austin, they are all so different and there are some really cool homes and restaurants. This one is right outside of Little Deli in the Crestview neighborhood up in North Austin.

Polka Dots Are My Favorite

Black and white polka dot dress with yellow shoes

It’s Friday again! <Everyone sighs in relief> It’s been an extremely busy two weeks at work for me after having taken on some new tasks, and I need a little break from work (and that includes house work lol):) My parents are coming in to town tonight for the weekend, and we have plans to go to the farmer’s market to get some fresh produce which I am super pumped about (I feel old). There are so many farmers markets in Austin and after 3 years we still haven’t been to one! I know, we’re crazy! Black and white polka dots with pink statement necklace Black and white dress Kate spade clutch and polka dot sunnies Black and white polka dotted dress Add a pop of color to a black and white dress with a statement necklace Pink and yellow pops with a black and white outfit A pop of pink with black and white polka dots Black and white polka dot skirt with yellow peep toe heels

Today’s outfit is what I wore to work yesterday. Ever since I quit my job at Charming Charlie over a year ago, I have been trying to wear a little less black and white (that’s all we could wear at work). So, needless to say, I haven’t worn this dress in over a year. I forgot how much I love it! Polka dots really are one of the best patterns ever. I really want to get a black and white striped clutch to wear with it next time and throw a little pattern mix in to the equation. If Charming Charlie taught me one thing, it was that colored pieces looks FANTASTIC with black and white. I almost threw on my black wedges from Target with this outfit, but when I saw these little yellow ones sitting there I realized that I was trying to be too safe. Live a little right? Yellow and pink look fabulous together anyways!

Chicago, Illinois

From the top of a Chicago rooftop

I lived in New York City for a semester during college, and though I always say that I wouldn’t want to live in a big city for the rest of my life, I think I could do Chicago. Ok, so that’s a lie….I hate snow and I hate cold. The city though, I could do the city. At least that’s what I think when I stay in places like the loft we were at last Friday. The first few of these photos are from there, and I think it was the coolest place ever. How awesome would it be to have a rooftop patio to hang out with all of your friends? <sigh> Maybe some day we will be rich and we can afford something like this…in downtown Austin:) Sorry not sorry for the overload of pictures today! I have been looking for a dress like this one since I bought it last year. I love the cut and it’s just adorable in general. Every time I go in to Forever 21 I hope and dream that I will find the dress in a different color or a new pattern. Well, the week before Chicago, I was in with my cousin and we found it! I honestly probably wouldn’t have cared what pattern or color it was, but I ended up loving the green and blue anyways:) You can’t see them in the photos because my feet got tired after an hour or so, but I wore my nude Target wedges and then matched that cute nude clutch to them. Pearls were a great finishing touch and made me feel like the classiest broad at the party. Well, I thought I was until they started playing boy band songs from my middle school days, and Matt and I jammed along as though we were still in those middle school days. Haha! Oooh I want to go back!

Tropical Love

Tropical summer outfit

Oh my goodness am I tired! Traveling sure does take a lot out of you. We were at a wedding in Chicago this past weekend, and our flight was delayed on the way back. We didn’t get home until really late on Sunday night. Needless to say, waking up on Monday morning was rough. The weekend was an absolute blast though! The wedding was beautiful and we got to see all of our friends from college. I love Austin, and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else, but I do wish all of our friends were closer together. Those guys are like my brothers, and we have way too much fun together:)

I wore this outfit the week before Chicago, but I also wore it on the plane and for our first day there. I  initially tried this one on in pink and white stripes, but when I went back to look at the price I saw the tropical version and fell in love.I knew I needed this one instead! This shirt is so comfortable and it just makes me want to go to the beach:)

Have a great Tuesday, we’re almost to hump day!

Dressing Up A Plain Tee

Skirt, tshirt, and scarf outfit

This is SUCH a comfy T-shirt. I was looking for the perfect soft tee and walking around Target (obviously) found this one. Sooooooo comfy! I love finding different ways to dress up a comfy shirt too. I wore it with my boyfriend jeans and a statement necklace the first time, so the second time I wanted to dress it up a little bit more. This outfit kind of came together spur of the moment when I realized that this scarf and skirt matched. I figured, why not put them together with my comfy tee?! Love:)
