Homemade Pumpkin Bread

Homemade Pumpkin BreadHigh school is usually a horrible memory for most people. Don’t get me wrong, I would never want to go back and I was a little bit nerdy for most of it, but I have some GREAT memories from high school. After moving across the country between 10th and 11th grade and being all teenage angsty for half of Junior year, I finally began to settle in at Northville High School and make some friends. My friends  consisted pretty much 100% of choir and theater people. We were together all the time at rehearsals and such so why not just hang out in our spare time too, right? I actually met my husband in the first play I ever did at NHS, but that’s neither here nor there. The point of this story actually has nothing to do with the story I just told…..oh well, the point is that our choir department would sell this pumpkin bread at the Victorian Festival each fall. We would all sign up to bake it and then sign up for a slot with our friends to sell the bread at the booth. Let me tell you, I don’t have much other experience with pumpkin bread other than this…..but God is it good! I have made it every Thanksgiving since high school and it gets rave reviews every time!

This recipe makes 3 regular sized loaves and freezes really well if you want to enjoy at a later date! I also suggest either making or buying cream cheese icing for it. A slice of pumpkin bread with a little cream cheese icing spread on it is the best! I hope you all enjoy and have a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow!

Crock-Pot Pulled Pork Sliders

Pulled Pork Sliders in the crock pot

Yum. That’s all I can say about these pulled pork sliders. I made them a  few weeks ago for our Halloween party and again for dinner this past weekend. There is nothing better to me than meat that is so tender it shreds with a fork. That’s what I love the most about my slow cooker, it makes all the meats taste amazing! These are great for parties or football games because they stay warm in the crockpot for hours, but they work just as well for a meal with the family:) This recipe is so easy I only have 6 steps for you and the last one is eating!
Slow Cooker Pulled Pork Pulled Pork Sliders

Ingredients:

  • Kings Hawaiian Buns- You can get any buns really, but these are my favorite. I feel like they MAKE the sandwiches:)
  • Pork Roast
  • Broth
  • Barbecue Sauce

Directions:

  1. Put your roast into the crockpot with your broth. The broth is really only there to make sure that the pork roast doesn’t dry out. I used beef.
  2. Cook your meat on medium for 6-8 hours.
  3. Once the meat is thoroughly cooked drain the broth and shred the meat with two forks.
  4. Add barbecue sauce to the shredded pork.
  5. Cut open your buns and pile that meat on there!
  6. Enjoy!

Fall Colors Outfit

Fall Outfit- mustard and burgundy

This weekend was a really great one! Friday and Saturday were spent inside with the hubby because we had some MAJOR storms. It’s sometimes nice to have an excuse to stay in and cuddle on the couch:) I had a little bit of cabin fever by the time Saturday night rolled around and decided to put up some Christmas decorations! I know, it’s not even thanksgiving yet, but I won’t have time to decorate next weekend or the one after so I decided it’s better to be early and enjoy it for longer! It looks awesome and now I am totally in the Christmas spirit! Sunday was sunny and 80 degrees so Wes and I walked over to the coffee shop in the morning, then yard work, outfit photos, and some yummy pulled pork sandwiches filled out the rest of the day. We got a lot done, but also had some relaxation time…perfect weekend:)Comfy scarf and sweater outfit Burgundy Skirt with mustard clutch Burgundy skirt with a fall hat Mustard tights with leopard pumps Mustard Monogrammed Clutch with burgundy skirt Fall outfit inspiration- Scarf and sweater Mustard and Burgundy Outfit Inspiration

I wore this outfit to work last week and I love theses colors, they remind me of the fall leaves. I was super lucky that this last week was when I noticed leaves starting to change and got to take some pictures with them! People complain about not having “fall” here in Texas, but it really just comes later than it does everywhere else. Our front yard is covered in yellow leaves and the trees in our neighborhood are turning left and right.

I have gotten so much use out of this skirt since I bought it! It’s so comfortable and I love finding new and fun ways to style it! I’ve featured it here and here already, and I have so many more ideas left! At first I was unsure about the baggy sweater with the higher waist of the skirt, but I don’t think it makes me as shapeless as I thought it might. Overall, I love the outfit and I’m pretty in love with these photos with the fall leaved in the back too!

Tights Are My Winter Savior

What to wear to work- Black lace midi dress with black blazerYou guys…I am ALL about the dresses. Pants are probably my least favorite clothing item and I hate them. Dresses and skirts are the most comfortable items in a girl’s closet, in my opinion, and I am not about to say goodbye to them just because it’s getting colder outside. Oh no. Tights. Tights are where it is at! I have pretty much every color tights you can imagine in my closet and I wear them ALL THE TIME during the winter. Layered with some cute boot cuffs and boots is my favorite way….or you can go simple like my outfit today!

Shop Lace Dresses:
I got these tights from Kushyfoot, and they are awesome. First, I love that they don’t go all the way up my torso to my bra. Those “control top” ones just make me claustrophobic. Second, they don’t cut in to your sides. No one likes that weird line where your tights cut into your side skin and make you look like you have an awkward roll. Now, maybe I just never have bought the right kind before now….but these tights don’t do that, it’s awesome!
I love that because of tights, I am going to be able to wear this dress through any weather. It’s got to be one of my all time favorite dresses and I don’t wear it nearly as often as I should. When there isn’t a blazer covering me from the winds you can see the shape of it a little better and it almost reminds me of a 50’s housewife dress. It curves in all the right places and really shows off your shape:) Love. I did get these tights for free from Kushyfoot, but I can honestly say that I would buy them regardless. They are comfortable and they are well priced. You can get a three pack for $20.97, and let’s be honest…I am not the most delicate little flower ever and ruin tights at least once per season. Ruin one? Have two more left…ha!All That Glitters Blog Signature
