Hi Lovelies!
I know it has been a LONG time since I have posted about working out. Pretty sure the last time was here when I showed you my awesome new work out shirt here…but a lot has happened since then!If you follow along on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook, you already know that one of my best friends and I are going to be running a half marathon in April! We have been talking about it for a few months and started running back in November…we didn’t sign up until this last week because we wanted to make sure that we were in good enough shape to start training.Lol! I was told that you should be able to run 3 miles a few times a week before you can start your training, and we are definitely there AND getting so much better! We have even made our very own half marathon training schedule!
I am so amazed at how much stamina I have built up. I can run for 45 minutes straight, burning over 600 calories and still keep going! It’s really crazy how I have turned from someone who hates running into that girl who would rather run than go on the elliptical! I have been MUCH betterĀ about eating healthy (minus the holidays lol), but I could still do better. I have to say though, that is part of the reason I run. I run so that I can have an ice cream or that mac & cheese with bacon:) I also run for the sweet gear! Yes, I know…typical girlie me. These are some of the awesome work out clothes I have accumulated over the past few months.
Pitch Perfect Tank: Gift for Christmas, I can get more details though if you want them
Keep Calm Tank: Target
Ruffle Work Out Capris: Albion Fit, you may remember these from Instagram
New Balance Shoes: DSW
Shoe Charm: Kansas City Kreations via Groopdealz
Those pants are the most comfy pants EVER and I would highly recommend them. I Googled a promo code for the website and got them for 20% off.
Is anyone out there running a race this year? Any advice for a beginner like me?!
I’m not running yet, but am participating in a few 5Ks. Keep up the good work – can’t wait to hear about how you do!
Thanks, Michelle! I am so excited and nervous at the same time…lol! Good luck on your 5ks!
I ran cross country in high school (and have since just been lazy), but the best advice I have is to run OUTSIDE.. Being in nature and the sky above you is so much better than a treadmill. And always remember to stretch, before and after – not only does it feel good, but it helps your muscles =) Congrats on how far you’ve made it and good luck in the future!
Thank you, Addie! I love running outside! When the weather is right and it’s not dark outside I run outside as much as I can!
My best friend is a marathon runner in Maine. She is currently training for her 3 big marathon, her first 2 she ran while pregnant!!! I like jogging and hope to one more into the I like running group. I jog, and take cardio classes so I can eat all the foods I love as well. I love a good meal.
I hope I am that fit when I am pregnant! Lol! They always say that the best people are those who like food:)
I’m a lifelong runner and my best advice is to never increase your mileage more than 10% a week. It seems slow, but it will go a long way to keeping you injury free.
Thank for the advice! I’m trying really hard not to push it too far….I think I’ve done pretty well so far:)
You get it girl….work it!! So proud of you for signing up and sticking to the training…I wish I was a runner and enjoyed it…I have tried and I suck at it….like really! Not kidding.
Thanks, lady! I didn’t like it to begin with…..it has REALLY grown on me
