You can…

Mint and peach outfit inspirationYou can’t please everyone.
You can’t make people like you.
You can’t control other people’s actions.
But, you can be the bigger person and make it that much harder for them not to like you.

These are lessons I have learned in the past few months. Nothing personally has happened to me, but just browsing the internet, other blogs and articles I have found some of the most ugly , mean hearted people in the depths of the internet. All I know, is that seeing other people being nothing but negative and having way too much fun putting others down just makes me want to be a better person. I don’t understand those people who find pleasure in other people’s pain. Oh well, it just makes me realize that I have to have thick skin in this blogging business. Happy Friday! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Ruffles and Fringe

Boho ruffle dress and fringe bag

We are over the hump of the week, only one more day until the weekend! This is good and bad all in one. It’s going to be a great weekend, but it makes me sad that this will be Nicolle’s last weekend living in Austin:( It’s been a lot of fun having her here, but I feel like we really didn’t get a chance to do as much as I wanted to since she had to work a lot of weekends. Oh well, that just means she is going to have to come back and visit soon!

Today’s outfit is very feminine. There is nothing more me than something super girly like lace and ruffles in one! One thing sums up my love for this outfit, and that is that it makes me want to twirl. Twirling is my favorite:)

Do you have an outfit that just makes you happy on the inside?

Shakoolie, For Shower Beers

Shakoolie Americans for shower beers.jpgThere is nothing worse than working your butt off in your backyard on a Saturday afternoon, hoping into the shower to wash yourself off, and having your shower beer get all hot in the process. Not to mention getting water in it or knocking it off the corner of the tub. Well, so says my husband.:) Wes is a beer man. He loves his craft beer. Well, he loves any beer, but especially craft beer. The man has always sworn that a shower beer is the best way to relax in the shower before a night out, or after a hard days work. He has also sworn multiple times while in the shower and having his beer get ruined. Well, fear not my beer loving friends! Today I bring you one of the coolest inventions ever, the Shakoolie. The Shakoolie is made by some pretty cool guys who had the same issue my hubby does.

Shakoolie shower beer holder

The Shakoolie keeps your beer safe, cold, and within reach! I mean look at that beer down there, it would have surely fallen off of that tiny little shelf that has been taken over by my hair products. And let’s be honest, it’s not just for beer or men… I am a huge fan of mini wine bottles and wine coolers (yes, I know, I’m still in college), which also fit perfectly in the little Shakoolie koozie. Not a lot of time to both get ready and have a glass of wine? Now you can do both without risking your precious wine in the process.
No room for my shower beer

Easy Strawberries With Angel Food Cake

Strawberries with Angel Food Cake

Oh my! Doesn’t that look fantastic?! Angel food cake is one of those things that I could probably eat in its entirety within just a few days. Not that I’ve done that before or anything…haha:) And those strawberries…YUM! This dessert is fantastic not just because of the ingredients, but because it fulfills multiple cravings at one time. You need something a little fruity and tangy? Check! Need a little chocolate? Check! Need some light fluffy cake? Check! Oh, just go make it already!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups egg whites
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 1/4 cups sifted confectioners’ sugar

Angel Food Cake with StrawberriesDirections:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Whisk the egg whites until they are foamy. Once foamy, add the cream of tartar, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  3. Sift together flour, sugar, and salt. Repeat five times.
  4. Gently combine the egg whites with the dry ingredients by folding the dry ingredients in slowly with a spatula.
  5. Pour into an ungreased 10 inch tube pan.
  6. Cook for about 35-40 minutes, or until cake is golden brown.
  7. Let the cake cool upside down on a cooling rack. When the cake is cooled, remove it from the pan.
  8. Enjoy!

You could also go buy a box of angel food cake mix or even a pre-made one in the bakery section of your grocery store. Whichever way you choose to make it, let me know how it turns out!

Calm & Carefree

Sundress with a fedora

Hi Lovelies!

The weekend just went by way too quickly. We got lots of housework done, including a little bit of painting, and had a great Sunday Funday at Top Golf…but it never seems like quite enough. Oh how I yearn for those days as a child when you had no responsibilities! <sigh> Welcome to adulthood. At least today’s pictures look carefree, right? I swear I say this every other day, but I change my mind every time I put on a new outfit…..this outfit is one of my new favorites. This dress has been one of my most worthwhile purchases in a long time. I swear I put this dress on once a week with the intention of wearing it and sometimes have to talk myself down and into one of my other million pieces.

I wore this little number when we were up in Michigan, the day I bought my little Michael Kors crossbody, which I am pretty much obsessed with. I wanted a pink handbag and I wanted something to match my magenta Kendra Scott Rayne necklace. Well, these two were MEANT TO BE. The colors are identical and I can’t stop wearing either of them, especially together! The magenta and cobalt combo is a new find too…I pretty much love any bold, bright colors mix and matched together these days. Gotta love summer!

Oh, and for those of you who are flamingo obsessed like me, I thought I would point out that my ring is a little pink flamingo. I know, i needed it:)
