Move, Nourish, Believe Challenge: Week 1

Hi Lovelies!

A you may know from this post last week, I joined in on the fun with Lorna Jane and Fit Approach with their Move, Nourish, Believe Blogger Challenge. Every day you had a different challenge to document via Instagram and/or Twitter and today is my recap of the week! Go follow me on Instagram and Twitter to follow along!

Monday: Sweat It Out

Today’s challenge was to show your favorite way to sweat. Well, lately it has been running and then lifting weights. I’m training for a half marathon in April and have actually gotten really good at running without dying. That’s huge for me, since last summer I absolutely despised running. Some things do change:)

Day 1- Favorite Work Out

Tuesday: Change It Up

Today’s challenge was to pick a new way to sweat and show your after work out selfie. Well, I don’t think anyone wants to see my after workout selfie….I sweat like you wouldn’t believe and I get all red in the face. So, I decided to show off my new #sweatpink gear that I got in the mail right after I got back from the gym instead. I chose to do a HIIT work out as my new way to sweat, and it was intense.

Day 3- After Run Selfie

Wednesday: Let’s Get Planking

Today’s challenge was to plank for 5 minutes. I haven’t done much planking in my life, so this one was much harder for me than I had anticipated. Planking is one rough activity, by 40 seconds I was absolutely shaking. Let’s just say that I had to break this one up throughout the day to actually achieve 5 minutes. I will be doing much more planking in the future, its so great for your core.

Day 2- 5 minutes plank

Thursday: Buddy Up!

Today’s challenge was to work out with a friend. Well, no one that I know in Austin really works out, so I went with Sophie. She’s my favorite running buddy, even though she can only make it about 2 miles before I have to drop her back off at home to rest. By the look on her face, Sophie thought Thursday should have been rest day…she was wrong:)

Day 4- Work out buddy
Friday: Five Fitness Favorites

Today’s challenge was to show my five fitness favorites. Well, I went with all of my work out gear, because new work out clothes are one of my biggest motivators. Who doesn’t love to be pink and pretty while getting their sweat on?

Day 5- Five Fitness Favorites

I found some really awesome new people to follow on Twitter and Instagram this week through the challenge and also gained some great motivation from all of their posts! Go to the Facebook group to join in the fun next week!

Sweat Pink And A Challenge

Hi Lovelies!

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I sat around and did nothing most of the weekend, just like planned (See the picture below, we didn’t move from this spot all day Saturday lol)! Traveling the past two weekends in a row really wore me out and I needed a little bit of time to just rest and recoup from it all. I did run my 4.5 mile on Sunday for my half marathon training though, so it wasn’t a complete lazy weekend. :)Cavalier King Charles

I have a few things to share with you all today! First of all, I was accepted by Fit Approach to be a Sweat Pink Ambassador. Yay! The Sweat Pink Ambassador’s are a group of women who want to inspire others to be healthy and happy. I joined because I want to inspire other women. I have worked out for years, but just recently realized that I am in love with running. I love the way it makes me feel. It makes me feel strong, it makes me feel like I have the power to do anything. I used to work out to get skinny. I used to work out because I wanted to look like Giselle. Now, I work out for me. I work out because of the way it makes me feel, not the way it makes me look. I want to help other women make the realization that strong is beautiful. I want to help women realize how amazing they can feel if they work out for the right reasons. I am learning right along with other women, but I really think that I can be a good inspiration to so many people. So, with that being said I am so honored to have been picked as a Sweat Pink Ambassador! (Click here if you would like to apply)

Now, the second thing I wanted to talk about is the Move, Nourish, Believe Challenge. It’s being put together by Fit Approach and Lorna Jane and I want all of you to join me! It will be an awesome way to make sure that your new years resolutions don’t go out the window in February. Here is the link to the Facebook group where all of the details are, but for now for the rules:

1. Every day (Mon-Fri) there will be a new challenge. I have posted the calendar below so that you know what each day will bring. You will need to post a picture on Twitter or Instagram of the challenge. I don’t think it has to be you doing the challenge, but at least represent you doing it. Be sure to tag @LornaJaneActive & @FitApproach along with #mnbchallenge #sweatpink #lornajane in order to get credit.

2. At the end of the week you can recap your week on your blog or Facebook page. Be sure to share your post on Twitter and tag @LornaJaneActive & @FitApproach.  Every blog post will give you 5 extra points!

3. Every post will equal one point and the winner will be picked at the end of the month. The winner will get a $1000 shopping spree to Lorna Jane. In order to win the $1000 shopping spree, you MUST participate in all of the daily photo challenges.

Blogger ChallengeI would be beyond excited to win this! I need a $1000 shopping spree to get new work out gear! You all know how much I love to shop….and how new work out clothes give me SO much motivation! So, join me, your resident Sweat Pink Ambassador, and complete the challenge with me! Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram and Twitter to check in on my progress! If you do join in on the fun PLEASE let me know in the comments below so that I can go follow you as well!

Running Pink

Hi Lovelies!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I was in Dallas visiting the parents for my Momma’s birthday. We had a really great dinner at Buca Di Beppo and took a couple of hikes with the puppies:) If you take away the fact that my eyes swelled up and I couldn’t breathe due to allergies, it was a great weekend! Lol! I am so grateful my appointment with the allergist is tomorrow…it’s time to take some meds!

On to today’s post! This is a fashion blog. Fashion is what I love and it always will be, but given my new found love for running I wanted to incorporate it into the blog a little bit:) Not every day, not even every week, but when I feel like talking about it I’m going to! My blog, my rules, right? So, as most of you know, I am running a half marathon with my best friend in April and we are ROCKIN’ it! We’re training hard and eating well and it’s really paying off! I have to say, one thing I have noticed is that having awesome new gear always makes me want to train even harder. If you were here last week, you saw some of my awesome new work out gear, and a lot of you have seen the sparkle tank too….but you know me, the shopaholic, I am always looking for new “motivation”. Yeah, pretty sure I found it. are these not the cutest sports bras ever? And those headbands! Ahhh! I need it all. Don’t be surprised if you see any of this stuff popping up in my Instagram feed soon…I do have a gift card to VS after all:)

I Run Because I Really, Really, REALLY Like Dessert

Hi Lovelies!

I know it has been a LONG time since I have posted about working out. Pretty sure the last time was here when I showed you my awesome new work out shirt here…but a lot has happened since then!If you follow along on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook, you already know that one of my best friends and I are going to be running a half marathon in April! We have been talking about it for a few months and started running back in November…we didn’t sign up until this last week because we wanted to make sure that we were in good enough shape to start training.Lol! I was told that you should be able to run 3 miles a few times a week before you can start your training, and we are definitely there AND getting so much better! We have even made our very own half marathon training schedule!

I am so amazed at how much stamina I have built up. I can run for 45 minutes straight, burning over 600 calories and still keep going! It’s really crazy how I have turned from someone who hates running into that girl who would rather run than go on the elliptical! I have been MUCH better  about eating healthy (minus the holidays lol), but I could still do better. I have to say though, that is part of the reason I run. I run so that I can have an ice cream or that mac & cheese with bacon:) I also run for the sweet gear! Yes, I know…typical girlie me. These are some of the awesome work out clothes I have accumulated over the past few months.

Is anyone out there running a race this year? Any advice for a beginner like me?!

I Don’t Sweat, I Sparkle

Hello Lovelies,

It’s been a little over 7 weeks since I joined a gym. I went to my my personal trainer for 5 of those 7 weeks and it went surprising well. And by well I mean I didn’t cry, I didn’t fall on my face, and I didn’t decide not to go back! Yay me! I am pretty sure there were days where I wanted to kill Howard (my PT) for making me do push ups…..my arms just constantly hurt. Not ok. But, I definitely learned a lot and have gotten a lot more motivation to work out!

So, I have the motivation to work out. Woo hoo! Unfortunately, that isn’t the only factor in the get healthy plan…you’re kind of supposed to eat healthier too. So, I don’t know if any of y’all have joined a gym recently, but when you do take the plunge they ask you all of these embarrassing questions. How long has it been since you worked out? (Too long…) How much do you weigh? (Eek!!) What are your goals? (To not die?) What are your eating habits? (Cheese, cheese, and more cheese) I realized while answering these questions, that I was embarrassed by more than half of my answers. You try explaining to someone who has arms the size of tree trunks what you eat in the average week. Hmmm…grilled cheese, mac & cheese, pizza, cheesecake….pretty much anything with ANY type of cheese. I mean, that’s a minor over-exaggeration…but I could obviously be eating way better.

So there you have it, I have admitted it. I, like every other woman on this planet, am having trouble making myself eat the things I should. It’s really hard, especially when you’re a foodie! I found this website, circa 2009 or so, called Sparkpeople. I have used it on and off since then and found that when I track my food and exercise I am much more likely to eat better and work out harder. This time I am really going to try to keep it up. It’s time to really get healthy!

Remember this tank top I showed y’all a while back, here? I finally bought it last month, and it is my FAVORITE work out top! How do I look getting my fitness on?

Well anyways, as I sit here eating chocolate pudding (give me credit, it’s from Whole Foods) I ask you: What do you guys do to keep healthy? Have any good recipes for me? Help me, help me, help me!

Until tomorrow…
