This Is What I Like About Texas

Hi Lovelies!

When Wes and I picked up and moved to Texas two years ago we had a lot of people ask, “Why Texas?”. Well, besides the fact that I lived in Texas during middle and high school and LOVED it. And, besides the fact that Texans have the most pride for their state than anywhere else I have ever been, which is amazing. THIS is ‘why Texas’. Sunday, November 17….85 degrees and sunny. I just don’t understand how you could NOT love that. It was chilly all last week and the leaves are starting to change, it’s beginning to feel like fall…and then it’s 85 degrees. You would NEVER get an 85 degree day in Michigan in November. Ever. This entire weekend was beautiful as a matter of fact. I have to tell you…Michigan has beautiful lakes, but I wouldn’t want to live anywhere but Austin:)

New York City In Stripes: Day 2 & 3

Hi Lovelies!

Happy hump day! I cannot believe how fast time seems to be going. This past week has gone by so fast it’s unbelievable! Well, I hope you are all ready for my recap on the last 2 days of my trip to NYC! There are a few more outfit pictures on this post then there were yesterday, mostly because this outfit was so comfortable, yet I just felt cute in it:)

Anyways…Friday was really a day for just taking in the city and people watching. We visited the Statue of Liberty and walked by the Stock Exchange, unfortunately Ellis Island is still closed due to the hurricane. Now, if you haven’t been to the Statue of Liberty, it is definitely a must do! The boat ride out alone is worth it! You can see the entire city and all the surrounding Burroughs  perfectly and get some really great shots…plus who doesn’t like a good boat ride? You can go all the way up to the top of the statue, but my family and I have already done so. We were perfectly content just walking around, getting some great photos, and then having a snack at the little café they have. That night we saw The Newsies on Broadway, which totally took me back to my high school choir days when we would watch the movie version. After the show, I met up with a few of my friends from high school/college and had some drinks…it was really great to catch up:)

On Saturday my dad wanted to watch football, so Mom and I went shopping. We shopped down 34th street and 5th Avenue and found some really great stuff! I’m sure you will see some of my finds on here once I am not feeling so sick:( We met up with my dad in the afternoon and made a trip to Central Park and Bryant Park (where the cute puppies below are from). The bridge in Central Park is my favorite picture from these 2 days….It was such a beautiful setting.

New York City In Burgundy and Polka Dots: Day 1

Hi Lovelies!

It’s time to tell you all about the trip to NYC! First, let me just say that if you have never been to New York City, you need to go. I have been 3 times and lived there for 4 months…and I would go back again in a heart beat. So here it goes, day 1 of my trip to NYC…

On Wednesday I took a half day from work and Wes drove me to the airport. The trip from Austin to Dallas was great, it was the trip from Dallas to New York that was an absolute nightmare. I met my mom and dad on the plane since my connection was so short, and we were just about to take off……..and then we stopped moving. 3.5 hours, 2 free granola bars, 6 glasses of water, and a trip to the cockpit later, and we were finally on our way. We arrived at our hotel on Manhattan at 3am and passed out immediately.

The next morning we woke up and made a quick trip to visit the house I used to live in. It was such a great experience and going to see it really brought back all of the great memories. I’m so glad we stopped by:) After we left “305”, we walked down to Canal Street/Chinatown and did a little bit of shopping/wandering around. Little Italy was right next to Chinatown, so we had lunch at this cute little place called Caffe Napoli.

After lunch, we decided to go see that 9/11 memorial. On the way we stopped by this really pretty church that had a graveyard with tombstones dating back to the 1700’s. It was right next to ground zero and during the attacks many people took refuge in the church. It may seem really weird, but I was fascinated by all of the old tombstones, they almost didn’t look real. The 9/11 memorial was absolutely beautiful, there are two giant fountains in the spots where the two towers stood surrounded by hundreds of trees and a beautiful park.

We ended the day seeing Motown on Broadway. It was SO good! I especially enjoyed the Jackson 5 parts, Michael Jackson is one of my all time favorites. Now, as I told you a couple of weeks ago in my New York Wish List post, I wanted to take some awesome pictures while I was in New York. I don’t know how fabulous they are, but I think I got some good shots. Here are some of my photos from the day, no captions necessary:)

The 5 Worst Recent Trends

The worst trends of 2013

Hello there, Lovelies!

I tried to like them, I really did…it’s just NOT going to happen for me.

The Top 5 Worst Trends of 2013 (thus far…)

  1. High waisted pants/shorts- Now, I’m not talking a little high….I’m talking those ones that go up to your ribs. Nothing about these is sexy in my opinion. Does no one remember middle school when we made fun of our teachers for having “flat butts” in these types of pants?!?! Yes, they look like that on you too! Especially if you are slim and already don’t have a butt!
  2. Paleo diets- OK, I’m going to get a lot of grief for this one….but, I love food. I’m sorry, but I just can’t do this caveman style stuff. If I don’t have my carbs, someone is going to get hurt…
  3. Leggings with pictures on them- Polka dots are fine with me, stripes are alright, lets just put patterns in an okay position….but the pictures. I’m sorry, what? Are those pictures of bones on your leggings, or did I form X-ray vision? It is also NOT okay to have Star Wars on your leggings…or Betty Boop….or the solar system…
  4. The bow hair style- Okay, just to start you off….I.Love.Bows. I will pretty much buy anything that has a bow on it. Then people started tying their hair in bows. First of all, that’s beyond hard and it will never look like the picture. Second, it looks….well in my opinion, dumb. If you want a bow in your hair, then tie one (or clip it) in. If we are being honest, does anyone else think it looks like a sock bun gone wrong? I’m sorry, I just can’t handle the bow made of hair…
  5. It was really hard for me to pick #5. I wanted it to be ombre hair to begin with because to me it just looks like you forgot to die your hair…but it just wasn’t terrible enough. In the end, I had to go with those MC Hammer pants aka harem pants. You know the ones…they’re REALLY baggy until they get to your lower leg and then they get really skinny. These do not flatter anyone on this earth. Ever. No excuses.

Now, you can feel free to disagree with me. I mean, that is your right as a human. But, this is my mouth I can say what I want to…..(don’t even get me started on Miley….)

Until tomorrow,
xox Megan
