Weekend Update: Carter Michael

Hi Lovelies!

If you don’t like babies, turn back now! There are going to be a lot of baby picturea on today’s post, because I met my nephew Carter Michael this weekend! He is such an adorable baby and I’m not just saying that because he is my nephew! Most babies have this alien-like look to them for the first few weeks, but here is Mr. Carter looking cute as ever just 5 days after birth…yes, he is in a dump truck!

After meeting my new nephew and staring at him/touching his chubby baby cheeks for a good hour or so, the weekend continued with some swimming and hanging out. My other niece and nephew Alexander and Anniston love their Auntie Megan<3

And then there was a little more loving on Carter. OK, a lot…

Don’t mind the hair. My arms hurt so bad from doing push ups with my personal trainer that I couldn’t lift them high enough to actually do something to my hair. Therefore, we get Megan with a wet mop on her head:)

And of course Little Miss Sophernugget had to meet her baby cousin. I’m not sure how they felt about each other…

Look at that! The two cutest babies ever:)

Well, now the weekend is over, and really don’t think I got enough baby-time in. All I want to do is touch those sweet, pudgy, little baby cheeks!

Well, that’s it for the weekend recap! Thanks for stopping by!

Men Do Not Understand Fashion/A Little Surprise!

Well, first I need to say….I’m an AUNTIE again! This is unexpected, I wasn’t planning on posting that for another week or so! This morning at 5:45 my big sissy, Michelle, had a baby boy! His name is Carter and from the pictures I can see he is absolutely adorable! Welcome to the world, baby Carter!

Now, back to the regularly scheduled post:)

Men Do Not Understand Fashion…

Ok, I’ll amend that, most STRAIGHT men do not understand fashion. I work with 12 men. Now, I am pretty sure every one of those men thinks that fashion-wise I am absolutely insane (and maybe otherwise…lol). I have heard everything from, “Do you really NEED 15 bracelets all at the same time?” to “That is an interesting outfit…” Sometimes when I get ready in the morning I think about my coworkers as I look in the mirror. I then think to myself, “Megan, you have on a polka dot denim shirt tucked in to a high waisted hot pink skirt and an arm full of bracelets, do you REALLY need that giant bow necklace too?” Also known as, “Megan, they already think you’re crazy knock it off!!” I usually look back in the mirror, hold that amazing bow up to my neck, ponder for 5 seconds, and say who cares what they think? I think it’s awesome:)

These are the types of thoughts that went through my head when making the purchase below. I absolutely fell in love with this dress. It was the last one and it was in my size…It was meant to be. Though, the entire time I was in the dressing room I thought, “They are going to look at me like I am nuts.” Neon pink AND cheetah print? And God knows I am going to add a crazy necklace or an arm full of bangles….maybe even some neon heels. But then I got over it and I used my $15 coupon (it was my birthday:)) to help me get one step closer to ‘that crazy girl who works in our office and wears super bright/mismatched colors and stripes with polka dots’. And now, I give you neon and cheetah…..

I will surely be doing another post on this dress with a more fall feel to it later this year to give you an idea of how to take it from season to season….and maybe add on those neon heels:) Thanks for stopping by!

Linking up with Molly and Carly!

I Don’t Know What Day It Is…..

I almost named this post “My Weekend In Instagram”. Then I realized that it isn’t Monday, it is Friday. Not that I’m complaining…I would much rather it FEEL like Monday than actually BE Monday. Holidays screw me up. Anyway, I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July! Wes and I had a great (hot) time hiking in the greenbelt and exercising our all American right to eat out for every meal! haha! Here is a little sneak peak of what we did yesterday:

July 4th 21. Yes, I understand it is not normal to change your outfit 3 times a day….But, I am not normal.
2. These tacos were SO good!
3. The baby deer in our neighborhood with her Momma.
4. My American flag scarf from Target that I LOVE.
It was a really fun day, but now back to reality……for one day! :) I hope everyone else had as wonderful a day as we did. There will be more outfits next week, I promise! Thanks for stopping by!

Gettin’ Crafty: DIY Necklace Hanger!

Hi Lovelies! Happy Hump-day!

I plan on celebrating the half way point this week by going to dinner with my lovely husband and then baking cupcakes with my friend, Chelsea, and having a midweek slumber party:) Yay, girl time! I’m sure there will be pictures of our fabulous cupcake making skills later this week, so stay tuned!

In the meantime, I wanted to share my attempt at a DIY necklace hanger. As some of you may know, before my current job I worked as a manager at an accessory store called Charming Charlie. Lets just say that it is an understatement that I accumulated a lot of jewelery while working there….but that isn’t the point! Well, I guess it sort of is…I have TOO much jewelery and not enough places to store it all! So, on top of all of my other means of storing jewelery, I decided to make one of my own. Here is the finished product:

DIY Jewelery Holder

It was a very easy project. I went to Hobby Lobby and bought an unfinished plaque, paint, paint stencils, drawer knobs, and some Mod Podge. You can also get these items at Michael’s or Joann’s.

DIY Jewelery Holder

I painted the plaque with my background color (at my old apartment it wasn’t the same color as the wall…lol), let it dry, then used a stencil to paint on the designs. After everything was completely dry I painted over it all with Mod Podge. I then had my loving husband drill some holes for the drawer knobs and screwed them in!

DIY Jewelery Holder

Voila! DIY jewelery hanger that matches my bedroom and cost just under $15! I only put a few of my pieces on it for the picture so that you can see the details, but trust me, it is a lot more full now:) Does anyone else have a great example of a DIY necklace hanger?

Thanks for stopping by!
