Nautical Stripes: Two Ways

Hi Lovelies!

Don’t mind me, I’ll just be hanging out here in Austin with my spring dresses and 85 degree weather!:) I’ll try not to rub it in too much…….I’ll try. This nautical-esque dress has been one of my favorites ever since I bought it at Charming Charlie last year. Well, dresses in general are my favorite, and now that it isn’t freezing here, you can expect to see a LOT more of them:)

I get asked all the time why I’m so “dressed up” when I wear a dress, and that’s one thing I’ll never understand. Putting on a dress is so much easier than picking out an entire outfit and they’re so much more comfortable than pants! I hate pants and I don’t hate many things…but pants are one of those things. They’re restrictive and you just can’t move in them. The moment I come home, pants are gone. I just don’t understand why people don’t wear dresses ALL the time….pretty sure I was born in the wrong era. <sigh> What I wouldn’t give to have a world where dresses were the every day norm again.

This dress was in one of my first outfit posts way back last April. I paired it with some cowboy boots, a brown bow handbag and some turquoise beads. That’s one of the great things about it, there are so many ways to style it to make it a completely new outfit!

I Love You So Much: Austin in Stripes

Hi Lovelies!

I figured the ‘I love you so much’ sign from Jo’s Coffee on South Congress was fitting since it is Valentine’s week:) Well, Wes and I felt like tourists in our own city this past weekend. We rented bikes from the new city ‘b cycle’ program they just launched and rode all across the city. We had lunch at the Whole Foods head quarters, rode around South Congress and got some coffee, and then ended at the Auditorium Shores park watching people play with their dogs and taking in the sunshine and fresh air. <sigh> I wish that nice weather has stayed with us!

I have had a major color crush on mint and red lately. I realllllly want this bow I found on Etsy, and I am pretty sure that is where the obsession has come from. The nautical feel to this outfit made me long for summer even more so than I have been…..please, Mother nature?! I am so ready for 70 degree weather to be a daily occurrence:)

Jewel Tones And A Little Plaid

Hi Lovelies!

It has been chilly here in Texas for the past few days, and I have been taking that weather as a chance to wear all of my fall/winter clothing before it gets warm again. I have to say though, as much as I love warm weather style I am so ready for spring. I know, I know, we have had some really nice weather here too…in fact it’s supposed to be in the high 60’s today and the high 70’s again this weekend too:) Woohoo! Look forward to some sunny spring outfits on the blog next week!

You may remember this dress from this post where I wore it pretty simply with nude flats and some gold jewelery. I decided to dress it a little more casually today with some mustard tights and my favorite boots. Tights really are one of my favorite ways to change up the look of a dress and I love the mix of the jewel tones here!

By the way, totally off topic, but I would highly recommend going to your local Charming Charlie and finding this watch. I have gotten more compliments on it than probably any other jewelery item I own.

Lace and Cowboy Boots + Allergy Craziness

I am so excited by how nice it has been here in Texas the past couple of days! It was 80 degrees yesterday, and you can bet I was running around with no coat on soaking up that sunshine! It was such a nice day I just had to take some pictures:) It’s going to be a little colder than 80 the rest of the week, but I will take my 60s and 70s over that polar vortex any day! Lol!

So, yesterday was the big allergy test. Oh my goodness was it awful! First they bring out 6 panels that have 10 prickers on them. Each pricker has an allergen on it and they rub them into your inner arms so that it “scratches” your arm. Then they make you sit for 20 minutes while your arms feel as though they are on fire and itch like CRAZY! After you wait for what seems like 5 years for them to come back, they measure how big all of the welts are. This is where they decide which ones you reacted to and get shots ready for each one. So here’s the great part: They test you for 60 allergens…..<drumroll> I tested positive for 57 of them. Which meant I had to get a shot 57 TIMES! Yes, you heard me correctly, I had 57 shots yesterday. I now have bruised track marks to show off to all of my lovely coworkers and gym mates. Worst experience ever. Well, I guess now I know I am allergic to everything. No really…cockroaches, mice, cats, dogs…every tree, weed, mold, and grass ever. I guess that’s why I feel like crap ALL year round. Lol.

Southwestern Style

Hi Lovelies!

Is anyone else dying of allergies right now? I don’t know what it is about this state, but my allergies KILL me all the time. Maybe it’s the fact that nothing ever dies because it doesn’t get cold enough. Well, whatever it is, It’s sooo bad. I’m going to take an allergy test on Monday, but the catch is that I can’t take any type of medication until then. So, don’t mind me…I’ll just be over here dying.

Today’s outfit is something I saw on Lulu’s instagram and bought about 5 minutes later. I don’t care if it goes out of style next fall, or 10 years from now….I love aztec print.
