Color Crush: Teal And Coral Chevron

Hey There!

I have had a major thing for coral and teal lately. The proof is here, here, here, here, and  here. Yes I know, it’s getting a bit ridiculous, but I just CAN’T get enough of this color combo! I also love the one shoulder look. So many trends in one outfit…ahhh! Alright, well enough about trends and on to the actual outfit…here she goes…

As you can probably tell just by browsing my posts, I have a bit of a handbag fetish. I need a new handbag like I need a hole in my head. Yes I sound like my mother, I know! It’s terrible, but it’s true! Anyways, when I saw this coral lace handbag I fell head over heels in love. And you will never guess how much it was. Go on, take a guess? You were probably wrong! I got it for $5. I love clearance…so much. This little handbag fits a surprisingly large amount of stuff, which is awesome because I carry WAY too much with me. There is also a long strap that I have tucked inside so you can wear it either way, because really who wants to carry it around all day? This outfit, overall just rocks if I do say so myself:)

In other news, the gym is going well. It’s funny how after just under 2 weeks of working out I already feel 10 times more confident! This whole working out thing= awesome! I was a little discouraged when I got out of the shower tonight to find that my darling Sophie chewed a hole in my brand new charcoal and coral C9 Target workout pants:( I literally got them on Sunday and they are ruined…my heart broke just a bit. It’s a good thing she’s the cutest thing I have ever seen, or the wrath of Megan would have been unleashed! And now for the shameless puppy picture…here she is looking all sad that she got scolded when she ruined my pants:

Cowboy Boots Go With Everything

Hey There!

Today, I am sharing one of my favorite dresses and one of my favorite memories. The dress I stumbled upon on accident. I had already picked out what I was wearing for my engagement pictures when I wandered into Forever 21. This dress immediately screamed out my name and forced me to try it on. Needless to say I fell in love and all of my plans for the pictures changed. I found the bracelet that same day and was so excited that the entire outfit just fell together so nicely:)

Now on to the pictures…Wes and I had my sister take some pictures of us at a park around the corner from our wedding venue shortly after we got engaged. They turned out really well and I was totally relieved because it was going to save us a ton of money on engagement pictures. Well, long story short, the pictures got put on to Wes’ computer and then against my advice he deleted them off of the memory card. A few weeks later Wes’ computer was stolen along with our pictures. Megan was not a happy camper. Shortly after, we picked our wedding photographer and found that the package we wanted included engagement photos anyway. Yay! Well, we live in Austin and our wedding and photographer were in Michigan, so these photos were taken two days before we got married. Here they are…the photos AND the dress:

I love the color, I love the cutout at the top, I love the shape…everything about this dress makes me smile. And let’s be honest…I live in Austin, you can’t get pictures taken without cowboy boots…they go with everything! So, there you have it, a cute dress and a little story about me:)

Until next time!

An update on the work out front: I can already tell a difference in my energy and stamina. Wes and I went on a hike in the greenbelt yesterday, the same one we went on during 4th of July. I felt so much better afterwards than I usually do and it has only been a little over a week since I started the gym! Yay me! That is definitely a confidence booster and makes me want to work even harder this next week! Until tomorrow…

Plain and Simple

Hi Lovelies!

I love this dress. It is one of the most versatile things in my wardrobe.  I styled it in a pretty simple way, but there are so many things you could do to it. Pairing it with a cute printed cardigan, like leopard print, is one of my favorite things to do. You can also mix and match different colors with it, add a cute statement necklace, add some wedges, throw on a leather jacket, put on some polka dot leggings….anything! The beauty of a plain, colored dress…it can be a great staple piece to have.

Purple dress

Everyone meet my cousin, Nicolle. I love what she did her with her scarf. Yes, that is a scarf, in the summertime, and no she is not sweating! I know, right? I never would have thought of this one on my own, but putting a belt around it actually makes it look like a cute printed vest. Love, love, love! Another great way to give a simple dress a little more style.

Purple Dress on the dock

And here’s the hubby. These were actually on our first full day of marriage. How cute are we? lol…

The Big, Gooey, Messy Burger…

Also known as a sloppy Joe. All you 90’s kids, name that movie reference!

So, I wanted to introduce you all to a little trick of mine…it’s called trying to sneak veggies into my meals without my hubby noticing:) Now, I will let you know that my husband likes veggies…but he prefers cheezits, chips and salsa, and just plain old meat over veggies any day. Not only that, but veggies are impossible to fit into a meal like sloppy Joes. I mean, really, sloppy joes with a slice of green pepper and some sliced mushrooms on there? Weird, and not going to happen. So, I found a way to put them in there without the person eating even noticing.

I give you, sloppy Joes with secret veggie goodness:)

SloppyJoes2

Ingredients:
-2lbs Ground beef or turkey
-1 green pepper
-5-7 mushrooms
-2 cans Manwich
-Onion buns or another type of hamburger bun
-Sides: I chose corn on the cub and french fries

Now, here’s how it goes:

1.Chop your green pepper and mushrooms into the smallest pieces you can possibly chop!
2. Saute your green peppers (or red, or yellow, or any kind really) in a frying pan until tender.
3. Add mushrooms to pan and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
4. Add ground beef or turkey to veggies and cook until brown.
5. Add sloppy Joe mix. I personally like Manwich Bold, but if you have one with less sodium go for it:)
6. Let simmer for a few minutes and Voila! You’re done!

SloppyJoes

Tip for the corn on the cob:

When cooking the corn, put some sugar and milk in the water. Best corn on the cob I have EVER had. No really, try it!

Well, there you have it, sloppy Joes with veggies, and they are so good. Oh, and just ignore those french fries on there. I totally didn’t work out and then eat french fries….I lied I did.

Until next time!
