Ryan Cruz

Hi Lovelies,

I don’t really know how to begin this post. I do know that I have not been able to get this off of my mind all week, and something like that is definitely worthy of a post. Have you ever heard a tragic story on the internet or the news about someone you didn’t even know, someone half way across the country, yet you feel as though your heart is breaking for them? I don’t know what it is about this story in particular that did it to me. Maybe because his Momma is a blogger, maybe because he is the cutest little red head you ever did see, maybe because just looking at photos of him makes me want to smile and cry at the same time. Whatever it is, he has struck a cord in me. If you don’t know little Ryan’s story, you can read about it here.

One thing that has blown me away during this week is the support of the online community. It just goes to show you that the internet can be the house for many mean and spiteful people, but it can also bring people together like nothing else can. It really restores my faith in humanity, to see so many people coming together and grieving for this family that they don’t even know. So many people reaching out to the family to give their support. So many people donating to the family to make their lives just a little bit easier during this awful time. I’m not a mother, so I won’t even pretend to understand, or begin to understand what their family is feeling, but I do want to show my support in any way I can. If you would like to donate to the family you can do so here. Keep this little guy and his family in your minds this weekend, and hug your little ones extra close.

My Momma…

Hi Lovelies!

I know, I know, this is a fashion blog. Lol. I have been so busy unpacking this week I haven’t had a whole lot of time to take pictures or do anything fun fashion wise. I haven’t even unpacked all of my clothes, which is driving me nuts because I have had the same pieces on repeat for a week! This weekend I will catch up on some things and I’ll have more outfit posts next week! Promise! In the mean time, I thought I would share a post about my Momma since it’s Mother’s Day on Sunday!

I don’t even know where to begin in talking about my Mom. She’s the absolute best! She has been there for me since the day that I was born, loving me and guiding me to always do the right thing. I ask myself every single day how she did what she did. How do I make sure that my kids turn out like me and my sisters? How did she do so phenomenally well at something that a lot of people fail miserably at? She raised 3 girls to become passionate, driven, kind women. That’s not just luck, that has everything to do with parenting.

I honestly don’t know what I would do every day if I didn’t have her to talk to me on the way to work, or the way home….or to tell me how much stamps are, or what’s in her chili for the 10 millionth time (I should probably just right it down somewhere). My Mom is my best friend, and even though I have to share that best friend with 2 other ladies, she always manages to find time for me and make me feel like I am her baby.

Momma, I love you more than you could ever know and I miss you every day! Wish you lived closer so we could go to Olive Garden and get ice cream:)

Love you, Mom!

Voldemort

Hi Lovelies!

I am still feeling awful today, so instead of a regular post I am leaving you with a little tax week/Harry Potter humor. I only had Harry Potter stamps left, and this one just seemed fitting…Enjoy!

30 Before 30

Hi Lovelies!

I had a fantastic weekend! Wes and I went to Galveston with my best friend and her husband so that we could run our half marathon. Friday night we stayed up late catching up on each others lives and having some drinks. Saturday we explored the city, picked up our race day things, and laid on the beach. I had forgotten how much I love the ocean. Galveston isn’t nearly as nice as Florida, but it’s still a beach and it’s still the ocean. It was fantastic! Sunday morning came WAY too soon…I guess that’s what you get for not going to bed early the night before your half marathon. Lol! Heather and I did great! We finished the race and in pretty good time for our first race ever. I am so proud of us for making it through even though we only started to run 6 months ago! No judgements on the picture, we just ran 13.1 miles! Haha!

Half Marathon

The Diva’s run was SO much fun. It was almost exclusively ladies and a lot of them were wearing tutus and costumes. There was music, champagne, crowns, and boas…and our medals were pink and sparkly. Best race ever.

This was the pier on the ocean while we were running. It was perfect running weather, cloudy and a little windy. It could have been JUST a little less humid though.

Galveston

Our half marathon starts off my list of 30 things I want to do before I turn 30. I have seen a bunch of these around the blogging world, and with my 27th birthday coming up in June I figured now was a perfect time to make one.

One Year Ago

Hi Lovelies!

Exactly one year ago today I posted my very first post on All That Glitters. Now, I don’t count this as my first anniversary since I didn’t actually continue blogging much afterward until about June…but it is definitely something I want to celebrate:) That post, which is right here in case you were interested, tells a little about me and my little life here in Austin, TX. It also has a lot of really bad formatting…lol! Talk about hard to read! Well, I decided that since there are a couple new people around these parts since that post one year ago I would give you another glimpse into my life, maybe this time it won’t be quite as awful as that first one. So, here is a little list of firsts in my life…

First baby picture

My first picture ever.  I had surgery the day I was born, hence the big bandage.

Baby's first birthday

My first birthday. I was a messy kid and I loved cake. What can I say, some things never change.

Little girl's first bike

My first bike. I was obsessed with it and my doll…I look as though I may pull my little dolly’s hair out pretty soon though…

First day of school

My first day of school. This was over in England, and I’m pretty sure I was the cutest little British kid ever.

First time being awesome

My first time being awesome.  I clearly had the blogger hand on the hip pose down pat at a very young age…

First picture with my love

My first picture with the hubby. We were the ripe old age of 16 seeing a movie with some friends:)

Sophie the Cavalier

My first (and only) baby, Sophie. If you haven’t met Sophie yet, then you haven’t been hanging around enough! She is my little love bug and has the cutest face ever:)

First Glance

My first look at the man I am spending the rest of my life with on our wedding day.

So here we are twelve months and a few hundred followers later here we are. Speaking of that, I don’t know where all of you people came from, but thank you so much for showing up here when you do:) I appreciate it more than you will ever know! Hope you enjoyed my little list of firsts!

What was your very first post about? Link them up in the comments so I can read!
