A Walk Down Memory Lane With The Lyve App

**Thank you to Lyve for sponsoring today’s post and inspiring me to try the Lvyve app!**

My husband and I moved to Austin from Michigan back in the fall of 2011. When we moved, we left behind family as well as pretty much all of our friends. Our friend group is incredibly close (some may say too close, lol!), so we have always made an attempt to see each other a few times a year. This past weekend, two of those friends came to visit and we had an absolute blast! Having known each other for almost a decade now, the “Do you remember the time when” stories come up constantly. Those stories are usually followed up with a, “Do you have a picture of it?” Now, being the girl in the group it has been my (Self assigned) job to capture all of our fun moments together by taking WAY too many pictures. I am that person who has always taken a LOT of photos. All through high school and college I had my camera permanently attached to my hand at every party and social event we went to. Now a days, I try to take my Nikon with me whenever I can, and if I can’t take it my phone is there as my back up. Even though I have millions (literally) of photos from the last 27 years, my problem is always how to store them and how to make them accessible no matter where I am. There’s only so much room in Dropbox and Google Drive to store all of my photos, not to mention, that’s where I keep all of my blogging stuff and those photos take up SO much space!

With the new Lyve app, I can sync all of my photos from all of my devices! When I go visit my parents, I don’t have to pull out my computer to show them pictures of our most recent hike in Austin. If my phone is dead, I can still show my husband the cute picture I took of the dog earlier in the day on my computer. If I’m on an airplane I can pull up my family picture on my tablet to show the poor person who gets to sit next to me! It’s all there, on all of my devices, no matter where I go with the free app (iOS, Android, Mac, PC, Kindle)!
Lyve App
The photos are organized by date to help you better locate the one you’re looking for, which is especially great for those random phone photos you don’t remember when you took! You can even connect your Dropbox and Google Drive so that those photos are included as well! I would highly recommend if you are an avid photographer like me, or even if you just want to keep your photos organized and accessible!

Now that you’ve downloaded the app and become addicted, we’re having a giveaway! All That Glitters and Lyve are coming together to offer one lucky winner a LyveHome device (a $299 value)!  The Lyve Home is a 2 Terabyte smart storage drive that will securely and safely back up all your photos and videos on an always connected drive. It will automatically sync all new photos that you take with your phone, tablet, etc. With the Lyve Home storing the original files securely, you can delete originals from your phone, freeing up valuable space on your phone while having access to the full resolution photos at any time on any device. (Note: You do not need to have a LyveHome device in order to use the Lyve app!) For the giveaway, you will NEED to download and try the Lyve app for yourself. To qualify to win, you must do the following:

1. Download the Lyve app for your phone or tablet. (Lyve will be checking that you have made an account, so please don’t skip this step!)
2. Find a picture that evokes an emotional memory of friends/family.
3. Share your feelings around the photo/app in the comments of my blog post!

Good luck, everyone!’All That Glitters Blog Signature

You Know You Have A Dog When…

You know you have a dog when...

My dog, Sophie, is a huge part of my life. I mean, really…look at that face…how could you not love that little nugget! She is my pride and joy and I am a proud puppy Momma….so while sitting around thinking of something to write the other night, I starting thinking about all of the crazy things we dog owners do for our pets….and thus was born:

You know you have a dog when…

1. You give up doing extremely important things. I don’t want to get up to pee, the dog is so comfortable on my lap right now. If I get up, they’ll have to move and be uncomfortable. We can’t have that can we?

2. You contort into strange positions. Maybe if I lean to the side 45 degrees and crane my neck around and then type with just the tips of my fingers I’ll be able to see the computer AROUND the dog that is laying half on top of it.

3. Food mess becomes non existent. Oh shit, I dropped spaghetti sauce. Here Doggie! Come get it! Yummy food! All clean and no harm done. :)

4. The doorbell is your worst nightmare. Someone walks up to the door….*oh no* Tries to hurdle over every item in the room to get to the door before the…..*ding dong* *dog barks uncontrollably* door bell….

5. You spell words instead of saying them. Want to go for a W-A-L-K? Do we have any T-R-E-A-T-S? I think it’s in the C-A-R.

6. You give up valuable sleep real estate. Your pillow, your blanket, your half of the bed, wherever and however she wants to sleep…..she sleeps….

7. You have a scapegoat. Someone farted? It was the dog. You’re not bored with your friends, you just have to go home and let the dog out. Your house isn’t usually this messy….it was the dog. <wink wink>

8. You have spent an entire night at the Emergency vet because your dog is sick, may have eaten a scorpion, or consumes an entire bag of chocolate. It’s just too bad they don’t understand human talk. That would just be too simple…

9. The camera in your house that is supposed to be used for home security purposes, turns in to a way to spy on your dog while you’re not home. I wonder what my dog is doing right now? Let’s have a look!

10. Your little heart is just full. Who could resist those eyes and that little face? They are the sweetest thing in your life and your heart couldn’t be more full of love:)

The Blogging Struggle

Hi Lovelies!
Blogging has been a real struggle for me lately. Not because I don’t enjoy it anymore, I do! I do so much! I have just had a lot of things going on and life has been getting in the way. As you know if you are a regular around here, I have been trying my best to get healthy and in shape. I have been trying to eat well and get a lot of exercise in, which has been going pretty well…but not as well as I would like. I have also opened up an Etsy shop for little ones called All That Glitters Baby. These two things, not to mention my full time job, have all been taking up a lot of my time, leaving very little time to take outfit photos and write posts.
Working out and being healthy in itself feels a full time job to me. You have to plan out your meals so that you don’t end up off track, and planning/setting aside time for work outs can be a daunting task sometimes. And that Etsy shop…well, business has been going well, but that money doesn’t just grow on trees. You have to make the products, photograph them, post to social media accounts, promote your shop, and then fill the orders! It’s pretty much like having a second blog! I tell ya…I will never complain about the pricing of an Etsy item again. It takes a LOT of work. Please, do me a favor…when you are looking to purchase something handmade, do not haggle with them on the price. It is worth every penny in their time and effort I promise!
All that being said, I am sorry if I have been a little bit more absent lately than usual. I promise I am not leaving you! I have, however, decided to cut back a little bit. I usually post 5 times per week, but that just isn’t possible right now.  Life is happening and it’s not going to slow down for this blog. I’m not going to set a schedule or a limit of how many posts I am going to get out there weekly, because that would just stress me out lol. I would, however, like to try for 3 posts per week! I think that’s a number that I can keep up with and with that I can guarantee the most quality in my posts! I
I plan to continue with my outfit posts and recipes, but I would like to add on some “Favorite Things” types of posts as well. I can highlight some of my current favorite make up items, trends, online shops, articles, etc. I used to do a post like this back in the beginning of All That Glitters, but for some reason stopped. I have also gotten a few questions about setting up and running an Etsy shop and would love to get a few Etsy selling posts out there for all of you with questions. So, that is something you can expect on top of outfit posts and recipes in the months to come!
I want to thank all of you who have stuck around with me on this journey, it’s been a great one so far and these changes are necessary to keep it going for even longer!
